Read & Share UMK 2021 Program
The Library and Knowledge Management Office (PPI), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has launched the Read@UNi Reading Encouragement Campaign at home as the country is still facing the Covic-19 epidemic.
The online launching was completed by the Vice-Chancellor of UMK, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Noor Azizi Ismail. The main focus of the program to cultivate the spirit of reading among UMK residents during the Movement Control Order (PKP).
The Read & Share@UMK 2021 program also received the cooperation of the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development (FBI) through a joint initiative with American Corner Kelantan (UMK), which was posted live on Facebook OfficialUMK, on 13 January 2021.
According to the Read & Share Program Coordinator@UMK 2021, En. Pahmi Abdullah, this program is for the first time implemented online to cultivate a continuous interest in reading for UMK campus residents to adopt the new normal due to the Covic-19 dynamic. He said, despite the country's situation in facing the Covic-19 dynamics, the PPI has always given a continuous commitment to support the Read@UNi Reading Encouragement Campaign to encourage UMK campus residents to read. Coinciding with the tagline "Reading the Bridge of Knowledge", this invigorated reading culture is expected to enhance the academic excellence and personality of students. "Support from UMK residents is important to give full commitment to this reading encouragement campaign not only for the excellence of the university but also for the excellence of oneself through the culture of love of knowledge all the time," he said.
In addition, according to the co -coordinator of the program, Ms. Sarah Nadia bt Ahmad, the participation this time also received an encouraging response from students and staff of UMK itself where as many as 100 participants have shared the books they read. The sharing sessions were held in five Parallel Session Read & Share@UMK 2021 through the Google Meet Platform which was hosted by moderators from among lecturers and language teachers from the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development (FBI). She also intends to further expand this program to the surrounding community in the future.
